Pozzolana, also known as pozzolanic ash, is a natural, siliceous or siliceous-aluminous material that reacts with calcium hydroxide in the presence of water, forming compounds with cementitious properties, and is named after the volcanic ash deposits near Pozzuoli, Italy. 

Providence Holdings Cameroon Limited is currently in the process of setting up a pozzolana extraction and distribution operation to supply local cement manufacturers, contractors, and government projects.

1. Cement production: Pozzolana is used as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) to produce Portland-pozzolana cement (PPC). This type of cement is widely used in Cameroon's construction industry.

Construction materials: Pozzolana is used to produce concrete blocks, bricks, and other construction materials. Its use helps to improve the durability and strength of these materials.

Road construction: Pozzolana is used as a stabilizer in road construction, particularly for rural roads. It helps to improve the stability and durability of the road surface.

Soil stabilization: Pozzolana is used to stabilize soils, particularly in areas with high clay content. This helps to improve the load-bearing capacity of the soil.

Water treatment: Some studies have explored the use of pozzolana as a low-cost adsorbent for water treatment in Cameroon.

In Cameroon, pozzolana is often sourced from volcanic ash deposits, particularly in the western highlands region.
